Generosity is Contagious
Plus new events and new additions to Clement Collective's Lending Library
Hello Friends,
In this newsletter you will find some quick updates / a report from the very first Well-Knit Community event / a Celebration of Generosity.
Quick Updates
We’ve cancelled the Year in Review event tomorrow (leaders slightly under the weather)
Dec 26: Boxing Day Book Swap & Silent Night Reading Party is still on :)
Our first Board Game Night will be Wednesday, January 8th, 6:30-9pm; Dennis is going to teach us how to play Wingspan
Save the Date: our Grand Opening Housewarming Party is coming Friday, January 17th, 6-9pm, woot woot!
New to the Lending Library: another (fancier!) sewing machine, a serger, and a rotary cutter / grid ruler / cutting mat combo; thanks Leah <3
We scrapped our Membership program; check out our new Generosity page instead
As always, please check the Calendar for the most up-to-date event details, as we do occasionally make changes to accommodate shifting schedules.
Well-Knit Community Event a Great Success
Our first Well-Knit Community event was Delightful. We knitted and sewed and chatted and laughed for hours! Our next one will be Saturday December 28th if you want to join us :)
One attendee learned how to knit for the very first time, leaving with some knitting needles from our Lending Library and some yarn (courtesy of Kitty) to practice with. Another learned how to use our loaner sewing machine. Using materials from the Shared Stash, they made a custom cushion for their kitten.
A lonely wool hat found a new head to keep warm. Feet were measured for a future gift of knitted socks. Chiara shared the gift of confidence; with her encouragement, I finally fixed a mistake in my knitted shawl-in-progress, a process that involved learning how to “ladder down” through dozens of rows of a botched cable pattern. It worked beautifully <3
Celebrating Generosity
None of the above would have happend without Generosity. In fact, Clement Collective exists solely because of Generosity, in the form of money, of muscle, of time and energy... Generosity in the form of equipment for the Lending Library and creative materials for the Shared Stash.
And Generosity is contagious! Once people get a taste of how Clement Collective works, they often ask how they can contribute: do we want a 3D Printer / some quilting squares / some organizing baskets? (Turns out I’m not the only person with various creative tools languishing in closets, ha.)
Because of this — and because the previous Membership program I’d devised confused everyone, oops — I’ve added a couple new pages to the website:
The Generosity page includes a Wish List and other ways to become part of the cycle of generosity that makes Clement Collective possible.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed so far, in so many ways. Your presence is definitely the best present! We hope to see you in person soon.
with Gratitude,
Elizabeth
